Tanqia Deploys Cutting Edge Technology

The wastewater treatment plant features high-performance, energy-efficient technology with low operational costs. Utilising measuring and control technology, highly advanced treatment processes are used to convert the wastewater delivered to the plant into high-quality effluent.

The technology for the plant was provided by a worldwide leader in solid waste, wastewater, and sludge treatment, Passavant-Roediger. The wastewater treatment plant is based on a Passavant-Roediger technology that clarifies activated sludge with tertiary treatment. This technology was selected because of the following reasons:

  • Its well-established, proven track records with over 1,000 plants in operation globally manufactured by Passavant-Roediger
  • Its ability to fulfil the standards for effluent and sludge at least cost
  • Its modular structure which allows for flexibility in matching the capacity of the plant with the forecasted generation of wastewater
  • Its state-of-the-art energy efficiency and environmental protection that allows for the generation of:
    • Effluent of high standards suitable for contributing to the overall management of the water supply by becoming a substitute for higher value water for uses other than human consumption
    • Sludge, stabilized using thermophilic digesters, free of odor and pathogens and suitable for use as soil conditioner
    • Methane, through digestion of sludge, which is used for combined heat and electricity production, both of which contribute to the reduction of carbon emission and decrease the use of network-supplied electricity
